Techie Swati case: Police hold back charge-sheet as witnesses muster courage

While Infosys techie Swati was hacked to death in broad daylight by Ramkumar at Nungambakkam railway station in Chennai recently, the police are finding it difficult to file a perfect charge-sheet because of some new details that have come out. A voyeur-like Professor who would take the same train as Swati, Tamil Selvan, had seen the broad daylight murder of Swati. But he did not go to the rescue of the girl because of the killer. Tamil Selvan coolly told the police that Swati was slapped ten days earlier at the same station. But the youth who slapped Swati was not Ramkumar. It was another youth. This revelation threw the case haywire. Now the police will have to find the slapper. Otherwise, there is possibility of the killer getting away with lighter sentence. Because Ramkumar fled after the murder, and the Madras High Court suo motu directed the police to catch the criminal in 48 hours and the police failed, they want to build up a pucca case against Ramkumar. Another evidence is the witness who pointed out that Ramkumar lived in AS Mansion 404, Natesan, who is now missing. Sources say he is already in the care of the police. There is yet another guy in the police hunt, Suryaprakash, who introduced Ramkumar to Swati in Facebook. Only after all of them are accounted for will the charge-sheet be perfect.
