Convert challenges into opportunities : Chandrababu

Vijayawada, May 19: “The unscientific division of united Andhra Pradesh without proper allocation of the resources has created unwarranted problems to his State,” Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has observed. Chandrababu Naidu called for converting challenges into opportunities and remembered the efforts of the administration in restoring Vishakhapatnam to normalcy in no time after the aftermath of Cyclone Hudhud. “Now Vishakhapatnam is a favorite destination in the world, and we could achieve all this in one year’s time,” said the Chief Minister. To eliminate drought completely in the State of Andhra Pradesh, he called upon the officials for effective implementation of government’s flagship program Neeru Pragathi. “The government aims to drought proof the State and the focus is on increasing the incomes of the people in the coming five years”. He instructed the officials to intensify construction of water harvesting pits, farm ponds to make use to every drop of rain water. The groundwater levels in the State have increased by 1.22 meters thereby an additional 110 tmc of water can be utilized”, the CM said. In Chittoor district, groundwater levels of 13 meters were observed as compared to 30 meters last year. He expressed happiness with the increase in groundwater levels in Nellore, Anantapur, Kadapa and East Godavari districts. He ordered the officials from the Irrigation Department to create awareness among people on the benefits of water conservation and water management.
