Drunk & drive youth risk visas, jobs

Youth indulging in drunken driving in Hyderabad will face double jeopardy: The police will ensure that the erring youth would not get foreign visas and they also would not get government jobs in the country because the police hold the key of verification. Announcing this, City Police Commissioner Mahender Reddy said the police were framing rules by which the drunk and drive cases involving unemployed youth would see that their applications were rejected. The police were preparing a memorandum in this regard, which would be sent to the government. The police are concentrating on youth because most of the drunk and drive cases involved youth in the age group of 18 to 30. The police are making efforts to get the increasing number of such cases reduced. Statistics say from 2011, about 62,000 drunk and drive cases were registered in Hyderabad. Of these, the youth in the vulnerable age group numbered 30,078 cases.
