RSS tells temple boards not to waste funds for cultural shows

The Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) has suggested to the temple boards across the country not to waste temple funds for cultural programmes such as mimicry shows, fireworks displays, film shows and taking out idol tours. The huge funds should instead be used for health, education and other useful programmes for the devotees. RSS publicity division in-charge J. Nandkumar said big money was being wasted by the temples on cultural shows, which could be used for gainful purposes. Besides, cultural programmes should not be offensive, he added. The ritual display of fireworks in a Kerala temple recently cost hundreds of lives.
