RPI ropes in Rakhi Sawant for Assam poll
The Republican Party of India (Athavle group) is going to rope in Bollywood celebrities to campaign in the Assam Assembly elections on April 4 and 11. Item dancer Rakhi Sawant is prime campaigner the RPI is banking on. Rakhi is the chief of women's cell of the party. Nathuni Das, RPI general secretary for Assam, feels Rakhi will have an impact on the younger generation of Assam. The RPI is entering the fray to make the people aware of their political rights. She is expected to impress the weaker sections on their political rights. The other Bollywood celebrities are Nana Patekar and actor Salma Aga. The RPI fights for the rights of Dalits. The party is certain that it will win 5 seats. It has released the first list of candidates and the second list will be released shortly.
