Telangana budget gives top priority to major irrigation projects

The Telangana budget 2016, presented to the State Assembly on Monday, gives top priority to major irrigation projects, allotting Rs 25,000 crore. The budget outylay is Rs 1,30,415.87 crore, wherein the planned expenditure is Rs 67,630 crore and unplanned expenditure is Rs 62,785.14 crore. The budget deficit is put at Rs 23,467.29 crore. The debt waiver amount is put at Rs 3718 crore. The budget allots for the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation Rs 6286 crore, Sitarama Lift irrigation Rs 1150 crore, and Palamuru lift irrigation Rs 7861 crore. Presenting the budget for the third time, Finance Minister Eetela Rajender charged that the Central government was showing stepmotherly treatment to the State. the Centre had allotted only Rs 450 crore so far. Even the debts of the combined State were being cleared by Telangana.
