Tenth class exams for teachers, too, in Telangana

The Tenth Class examinations in Telangana are not only for the students but their teachers as well! Surprised? No, the examinations for the teachers are aimed with a view to bringing about changes in the syllabi and the teachers' exams are expected to enable the needed changes. While in the mornig the students will be writing the examinations, some select teachers will sit for the same exams in the afternoon. The teachers' answer sheets will also be evaluated, and their knowledge about the subjects will be rated by the same evaluation system. This will enable the State Education Department Commissioner to know how much the teachers know when they teach the students and what necessary changes need to be brought about for effecting changes in the syllabi. The exams for the teachers will enable a review of the syllabi. The review will seek to eliminate learning by rote and lay stress on learning the subject as a whole.
