Laljibhai Patel sets apart Rs.200 cr for poor girls' weddings

Diamond tycoon and Private Airline Owner Laljibhai Patel has announced a donation of Rs.200 crore for performing the wedddings of girls from poor families. Speaking at an NGO meeting, Laljibhai has made the donation. He said he was inspired in the gesture by Sadhvi Rithambara. In the donation that will be applicable throughout India, 10000 girls will be selected each year and Rs 2 lakh would be given to their parents for performing the marriage. He would provide the seed money at a function to be organised in Surat on March 13. Laljibhai became famous with buying of the monogrammed suit worn by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which has led to Congress vice-presdient Rahul Gandhi misguidedly referring to the BJP-led government as suit-boot circar. The dimond tycoon purchased the suit at an auction for Rs.4.31 crore. The money was to be used for cleaning up the Ganga.
