IRCTC website glitches abound

The IRCTC website, which promotes railway ticketing online, faced a breakdown on Tuesday morning. The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation however resumed its services by the afternoon. The website earlier in the morning put up a notice saying "Owing to website maintenance, we are unable to provide the users with e-ticketing. We regret the inconvenience to passengers." The IRCTC website faces frequent breakdowns. This is especially the case with Tatkal tickets purchase when the users face all kinds of glitches. But somehow the persistent buyers manage to get e-tickets. Efforts are being made to introduce the latest technologies to improve the IRCTC services, according to its officials. The website is indeed a blessing for the travelling public because they can book their tickets from anywhere through a computer, laptop or android smartphone rather than stand in long queues at the reservation counters. Although they may have to pay little more for the Tatkal tickets, they do not fall prey to touts who abound at railways' premises. Simply register with the website with an ID and password and enjoy trouble-free travel. For the Mumbaikars, they can also avail of Season Tickets through the website.
