Telugu NRIs launch 'I 4 Farmers' to highlight agrarian crisis

Hyderabad, Sep 11: Telugu NRIs from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have launched 'I 4 Farmers' an initiative to create awareness on farmers suicides and other agrarian issues. The awareness campaigns would be held through online and at field level. Children up to 15 years age can send pictures, paintings, stories and essays related to farmers, farming and other agriculture activities. In a press release, New Jersey based engineer Suresh E said the organisation would conduct several programmes on the need to honour and respect farmers and to highlight farm crisis, at all the educational institutions in both the Telugu states on the occasion of Farmers Day on December 23. "We are in a good position in US because of the opportunities we got. Farmers are in trouble because of the opportunities they were denied," he added. The organisation will hold meetings with Collectors and officials in both the Telugu states on issues like farmers suicides, crop loans, shortage of food and other issues.
