SVU students ragged, accused likely to get TCs

Tirupati, Aug 17: First-year Master of Computer Applications (MCA) students of Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati, were allegedly ragged by their seniors at the varsity's D-block building recently. In the aftermath of ANU student Rishiteswari's alleged suicide, the government is acting tough and implemented several measures to stop the menace. The junior students were reportedly told to take off shirts and salute seniors. SVU Registrar Deva Raju and Rector Jaya Shankar conducted an inquiry and confirmed that the three students were ragged by their seniors. The varsity Vice-Chancellor and Registrar today convened a meet to discuss on the action to be initiated on the accused. According to sources, HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao reportedly asked the university to officials to act tough and advised them to issue Transfer Certificates (TCs) to the three accused.
