19 red sanders smugglers held
Kadapa, July 30: The Kadapa police today arrested 19 red sanders smugglers and seized red sanders logs worth Rs 6.5 crore from them. The police team intercepted a mini lorry during a vehicle check near Dasarapalli reservoir in the district. The police found red sanders logs and five axes in the vehicle. The vehicle and axes were also seized. According to the media reports, all the arrested are from Tamil Nadu. There is no let-up in red sanders smuggling though the government set up Red Sanders Anti Smuggling Task Force and initiated several measures. The government is actively considering a proposal to use drones to tackle red sanders smuggling.
