Pushkaralu generates Rs 250 crore business in Rajahmundry

Rajahmundry, July 26: The 12-day Godavari Puhskaralu fete generated Rs 250 crore business in Rajahmundry city, according to higher officials. On an average, 20 lakh devotees visited the city everyday during the festivities. According to sources, each devotee spent Rs 200 in the city. Private buses, taxis, provision stores, pan shops, tea stalls, hotels and tiffin centres carried brisk business. Of the 55 lakh Pinda Pradanam rituals performed in the city, 22 lakh were performed at Kotilingala Revu ghat and this indicates rise in trade volume. It may be noted that APSRTC offered free transport to standing passengers in Visakhapatnam bound buses.
