12 injured as explosion rocks ONGC well in Gujarat

Ahmadabad, April 19, 2015: A major explosion took place in a ONGC well in Surat Basin in Gujarat injuring 12 engineers and technicians on Sunday. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals and the condition of some of them is said to be critical. Reports said that natural gas has been leaking from Well No 31 at Ankleshwar for the past few days and officials are trying to stop the leakage. However, special teams were pressed into service for repairing the equipment. The explosion took place while repair works were being undertaken.
