Notification for Elections in Telugu States to be Issued Tomorrow

Elections in the Indian states of Andhra Pradesh (AP) and Telangana will see their notifications issued tomorrow. The general elections across the country are scheduled to be held in seven phases, with the Telugu states participating in the fourth phase.

In AP, both the Lok Sabha (the lower house of India's Parliament) and the State Assembly elections are to be held, while in Telangana, the elections will only be for the Lok Sabha. The notification for these elections will be released on April 18, marking the beginning of the nomination process.

The nominations will be accepted from April 18 to April 25. On April 26, the scrutiny of nominations will take place, followed by the withdrawal of nominations until April 29. Subsequently, polling for both the assembly and Lok Sabha elections in AP and for the Lok Sabha in Telangana will be held on May 13. Once all the phases are completed, the counting of votes for the general elections will be conducted on June 4.

In the fourth phase, apart from AP and Telangana, elections will also take place in another seven states and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

A total of 96 Lok Sabha seats will be contested in this phase. In the fourth phase, the states participating include AP (25 seats), Telangana (17 seats), Maharashtra (11 seats), Bihar (5 seats), Madhya Pradesh (8 seats), Uttar Pradesh (13 seats), Odisha (5 seats), West Bengal (8 seats), Jharkhand (3 seats), and Jammu and Kashmir (1 seat).
