Saina Nehwal Expresses Outrage Over Congress Leader's Comments

Badminton player Saina Nehwal expressed her outrage on social media over comments made by a senior Congress leader targeting a BJP female MP candidate, suggesting she should be confined to the kitchen. The remarks were directed at Gayatri, the BJP Lok Sabha candidate from Davangere, Karnataka, by Congress senior leader Shivashankarappa, causing a stir. He commented that Gayatri is not good at speaking and only knows how to cook in the kitchen. Saina Nehwal voiced her anger over these comments.

Saina criticized, stating, "Women should be confined to the kitchen... says a senior Congress leader, Shivashankarappa... I did not expect such statements from a party that says girls can fight." She questioned what the Congress party thought when she was winning medals for India. "How would it have been if I were like that?" she sarcastically remarked. While on one hand, there is talk of honoring women's power and the Modi government is approving the Women's Reservation Bill, on the other hand, insults towards women from misogynists are happening, she pointed out, highlighting this as a deeply troubling issue.
