Judicial remand for Kavitha Kalvakuntla in Delhi Liquor Policy case

Hyderabad: The court has delivered a significant setback to BRS MLC Kavitha Kalvakuntla in the Delhi liquor policy case by rejecting her bail petition. During today's hearing, the Rouse Avenue Court reserved its judgment on her petition for a while before announcing the verdict, imposing a 14-day judicial remand on her until April 9. She has been ordered to be transferred to Tihar Jail, with police expected to move her shortly. This decision has shocked the BRS cadre.

On the other hand, the court has stated that it will conduct a full hearing on Kavitha's interim bail petition on April 1. Kavitha had requested interim bail citing her son's exams, but the court did not consider her plea.

Despite the Enforcement Directorate (ED) seeking her custody for another 15 days, the court's decision to remand her is notable. There is still a possibility for the ED to request her custody during her remand.
