YS Sharmila Leads Candidate Selection Process for Congress in AP Elections

The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) is focusing on the selection of candidates to compete in the upcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Andhra Pradesh. With the ruling YSRCP and the opposition TDP-Jan Sena alliance already announcing candidates for several constituencies, the Congress is considering to finalize its candidates as soon as possible. The party is ready to review applications received for Congress tickets across the state. APCC President YS Sharmila is set to conduct meetings today and tomorrow in this regard. These meetings with applicants will take place at Andhra Ratna Bhavan in Vijayawada.

After the face-to-face discussions with the applicants for tickets, there are chances that Sharmila will come to a preliminary conclusion regarding the ticket allocations. The list will then be sent for approval to the AICC (All India Congress Committee). 


Following the approval from the high command, the candidates will be announced. It is reported that the party has received around 1,100 applications statewide from individuals aspiring for MLA and MP tickets. In today's meetings, discussions will be held with applicants from Lok Sabha constituencies including Narasapuram, Eluru, Narasaraopet, Bapatla, Guntur, Machilipatnam, and Vijayawada regarding their applications for MP and MLA tickets. 


Tomorrow, discussions will continue with applicants from Srikakulam, Araku, Ongole, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Kakinada, Amalapuram, and Rajahmundry Lok Sabha constituencies.
