Munugode by-poll: ECI serves notice to Jagadish Reddy

Delhi, October 28: The Election Commission of India (ECI) served a notice to Energy Minister Jagadish Reddy for his remarks during campaign for Munugode by-election. In a letter written to the ECI, Telangana BJP leader Kapilavai Dileep Kumar alleged that the minister informed the voters of stopping social welfare schemes if they don’t vote for the TRS candidate in by-election.

“The by-poll fight is not between Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy and Kusukuntla Prabhakar Reddy. It is about as to whether welfare schemes need to be continued or not,” he reportedly said while addressing a road show along with Kusukuntla.

Based on the complaint of Dileep, the ECI directed the State Election Commission (SEC) to submit a report after verifying facts. After receiving a report, the ECI served a notice to Jagadish Reddy stating that he violated the election code of conduct and directed him to submit his explanation by 3 noon on Saturday.
