YS Viveka murder: SC agrees to transfer the case to other state

Delhi, October 19: The Supreme Court on Wednesday gave green signal for transferring former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy’s murder case to other state. YS Viveka’s daughter Sunitha Reddy filed a petition in the apex court alleging that witnesses are threatening investigating officials and urged to transfer the case from Andhra Pradesh to other state. The petitioner also pointed out that they don’t have trust in the ongoing probe in AP.

The top court asked lawyers representing respondents Umashankar Reddy and Yerra Gangi Reddy as to which state the case can be transferred. The CBI counsel pleaded with the court not to opt Telangana state for conducting trial instead Karnataka can be finalised.

However, lawyers of Sunitha said that they don’t have any objection if case is transferred to Telangana. The Supreme Court expressed anger over CBI for delaying investigation. Viveka was murdered by unidentified persons at his residence in Pulivendula on March 15, 2019.
