YS Viveka murder case: SC issues notices to CBI, AP govt

Delhi, September 19: After hearing arguments over petition filed by Sunitha, daughter of former minister Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy, the Supreme Court on Monday served notices to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Andhra Pradesh government.

Sunitha’s lawyer brought to the notice of the top court that there was no progress in the probe taken up by the CBI in the murder case of Y.S. Viveka as private and criminal complaints are registered against investigating officials. “Witnesses are being threatened,” he told Supreme Court. He urged the apex court to give directions to the CBI to continue investigation under the supervision of High Court belonging to other states.

Raising objection, advocate of D. Siva Shankar Reddy, the prime suspect in the murder case, informed the court that there was no evidence to prove witnesses are threatened. He stated that the CBI identified 140 witnesses in the case and it is impossible to call them to a far-off state for the probe. The petition was adjourned to October 14.
