Good news for railway passengers, cheap AC travel on the cards

Chennai: The Southern Railway has made arrangements to introduce trains with AC coaches at low fares to meet the growing passenger traffic. Modern trains will be available under the name of 'Pedala Ratham'. Compared to buses, the fares are low and the facilities are high, so passengers are more inclined to travel by train. Due to this, the number of people making reservations is increasing and they are facing difficulties in finding tickets.

Currently, running trains have only two or three AC coaches. These are divided into two-tier and three-tier bogies and high charges are being charged. As the number of chairs in these is also limited, travel in AC bogies has become almost impossible. To avoid this situation, the Southern Central Railway is making arrangements to make AC coaches available to the lower and middle-class people as well. These trains are named ‘Poor Man's Chariot’.

Arrangements are being made for 83 people to travel in each bogie, which is made with modern facilities. You can also travel lying down in these. The CCTV cameras will be installed. They run at a speed of 110-130 km per hour. It is likely that the train will be available for travel in the bogies of this train, which are undergoing final improvements at the Integrated Coach Factory (ICF) in Perambur of Chennai.
