Song row: Complaint lodged against singer Sravana Bhargavi in Tirupati East police station

Tirupati, July 23: A few residents of temple city lodged a complaint against singer Sravana Bhargavi in Tirupati East police station on Saturday for making video indecent way for the devotional song ‘Okapari’ composed by great Hindu poet Annamayya. Later, they raised slogans against the singer outside the police station demanding her to withdraw the video immediately.

Madhu, one of the protesters, said that Sravana Bhargavi being a Brahmin had hurt the sentiments of Lord Venkateswara’s devotees. He warned that residents of Tirupati will not allow her to enter holy city for Tirumala darshan forever.

Terming her arrogant for not heeding to the request of Annamayya successors, he praised her follow playback singer Geetha Madhuri for rendering Annamayya’s composition with devotional fervour.

“Sravana Bhargavi should use her god given gift of singing for lord’s praise,” he advised. Few days ago, the singer made it clear that she will not delete the video from the YouTube.
