SC directs AP govt to return Rs 1,100 crore SDRF funds diverted to PD accounts

Delhi, July 18: The Supreme Court directed the Andhra Pradesh government to return Rs 1,100 crore to State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) diverted to Personal Deposit (PD) accounts within two weeks. 
 
Lawyer representing the AP government informed the bench headed by Justice M.R. Shah that the state government is ready to give back funds to the SDRF. However, he informed the top court that still some COVID-19 affected families are yet to receive compensation.
 
The top court told the AP government to resolve compensation pending cases within four weeks. In earlier hearing, the bench expressed anger over state government for diverting funds of the SDRF.
