Bihar govt makes permission mandatory for second marriage of government employees

Patna: The government of Bihar has taken an interesting decision making it mandatory for the permission of the higher authorities concerned for any government employee to get married for the second time. This action has been initiated as many people are getting married for the second time while the wife/husband is still alive and without getting divorced, and then there are disputes and legal complications related to job and pension.

The Bihar government has recently released a notification to this effect. The notification states that government employees should enter into second marriage only after taking permission from the senior officer of the department concerned. Moreover, government employees must report their marital status to their superiors.

If you want to get married for the second time, you have to inform the relevant authorities about the divorce and the death of the wife, and then you have to get the second marriage with permission. If both the first wife and the husband raise objections, the second wife and husband will not get any government facilities, the notification said.

If a second marriage is entered into without informing the higher authorities, then the family members will not get jobs and other facilities. The Bihar government has clearly stated that if there are children from the first partner at such a time, they will be given priority.
