GST on Horse Trading? Nirmala Sitharaman's slip of tongue; KTR's counter

Hyderabad: A video of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's tongue slip is going viral on social media. While talking about the issue of GST on horse racing, Nirmala Sitharaman mistakenly said GST on horse-trading.

The netizens, who have taken this as an opportunity, are criticising the rebel MLAs holding them responsible for the political crisis in Maharashtra and indirectly hinting at alleged horse-trading in the fall of the coalition Shiva Sena government. This video is doing rounds on social media.

Many politicians and netizens are sharing this video clip and making sarcastic comments. Some have flayed it as a Freudian slip, a word of mouth. Moreover, they are making satires saying that if GST is true on horse-trading, BJP should pay more tax.

The common people claim that there is no need to pay taxes anymore. Telangana IT Minister KTR also lambasting the BJP government, he tweeted, “This is known as Freudian slip in English and ‘Mann ki Baat' in Hindi”.

Nirmala Sitharaman said GST on 'horse-trading' instead of GST on 'horse racing' during the GST Council press meet on Wednesday, June 29. She spoke about GST on betting, gambling, casinos and horse racing.
