YSRCP candidate Rupavani elected unanimously as Duggirala MPP president

Guntur, May 5: Returning officer on Thursday announced that YSRCP candidate D. Rupavani was elected unanimously as Mandal Praja Parishad (MPP) president of Duggirala as only he received single nomination. He handed over a certificate confirming her as MPP chief. The MPP president post was reserved for BC woman.

Election to the MPP chief post was postponed twice due to various reasons in the past. In 18 MPTCs for Duggirala, the TDP had won 9, YSRCP 8, and one by Jana Sena. As the election process began on Thursday, Mangalagiri MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy arrived to the MPDO office with 5 MPTCs. Later, two more YSRCP MPTCs joined  him. The TDP leaders alleged that the MLA had shifted the YSRCP rebel MPTC T. Padmavathi to a secret place.

No MPTC from the TDP filed nomination for the MPP president post. Sheik Jabeen, TDP MPTC belonging to the BC woman category could not produce community certificate before the returning officer.
