AP records attack on Dalits for every three hours, alleges YSRCP rebel MP

Hyderabad: Lashing out at the Andhra Pradesh government over the rise in crime rate in the State, YSRCP rebel MP Raghurama Krishnam Raju opined that it's a cause for concern. Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, he made key remarks on the deteriorating law and order situation in the State.

He said it was annoying to say that there were three murders and six rapes occurring in the State while YSRCP leaders would talk about non-existent laws. He also said that the Crime Records Bureau was revealing that more crime was taking place in Andhra Pradesh.

Raghuram Raju reminded that AP was in the eighth position in crimes against women in 2020. He further stated that the second highest number of sexual harassment cases were registered against women in the state. He further added that physical assault on women was the number one cause of death. Compared to 2019, the crime rate in the state has increased by 63 per cent, he pointed out.

There is an attack on Dalits every three hours. He said the highest number of lockup deaths was recorded in 2021 in the AP, and he said, “I was lucky enough to escape from police custody.”  He lambasted the government for not providing peace and security in the State..
