Mother of AAP MLA who defeated Punjab CM Channi still working as a sweeper

Chandigarh (Punjab): The biggest sensation in the recent Punjab Assembly elections was the defeat of Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi. Aam Aadmi Party candidate Labh Singh Ugok defeated Channi from the Bhadaur Assembly constituency in Punjab by a huge margin of 37,550 votes. With that, Labh Singh's name spread all over the country. Labh Singh's background also caught everyone's attention.

Labh Singh was from a poor family and his mother Baldev Kaur was working as a sweeper in the government school. Although her son became an MLA, she did not give up her job. She was seen holding a broom and sweeping the school as usual.

When greeted by the media, Kaur made it clear that she would work to eke out her livelihood and would continue to be a sweeper at school no matter what status her son was. Coincidentally, her son's election symbol was also a broom, and the one in her hand was also a broom.

Kaur explained that the broom was an important object in her life. She said she was happy that her son has become an MLA. She revealed that though her son contested against the CM, she assumed that her son would win the poll.

Meanwhile, Amrut Pal Kaur, principal of the school, where Baldev Kaur works said that Labh Singh Ugok, who won as an MLA, studied at their school. Although her son is an MLA, Baldev Kaur wants to continue as a sweeper in their school, the principal said.
