CEC announces schedule for Rajya Sabha elections

New Delhi: Elections to the four-state assemblies, including the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls, ended on Monday. Soon after that, the Central Election Commission (CEC) on Monday announced the schedule for the election of 13 vacant Rajya Sabha seats in various states of the country. 

The results of the five state elections will be announced in another three days while the results of the Rajya Sabha elections will be known by the end of this month.

The Rajya Sabha on Monday released the schedule for elections to 13 Rajya Sabha seats in six states of the country. Two in Assam, one in Himachal Pradesh, three in Kerala, one in Nagaland, one in Tripura and five in Punjab. The Election Commission has released the schedule to fill the 13 RS seats, which will fall vacant this April.

The notification for this election will be issued on March 21. The acceptance of nominations will start on the same day. The deadline for withdrawal of nominations is March 24. Polling will be held on March 31 and the counting of votes will take place on the same day.
