GVL raises Kapu reservation issue in Rajaya Sabha

New Delhi: BJP Rajya Sabha member GVL Narasimha Rao raised the Kapu reservation issue in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday. He reminded that Kapus in Andhra Pradesh are economically, socially and educationally backward. Hence, they have been agitating for reservations for the past three decades to get justice.

He recalled that in 2017 the AP government had passed a Bill in the Assembly providing for five per cent reservation for Kapus in educational institutions and government jobs. He said that only the State governments had the power to identify the backward classes for reservations ... yet the bill was sent to the Central government for approval.

He pointed out Muslim Reservation Bill was not sent to the Central government for approval by the AP government while the Kapu reservation  Bill was sent to put in order to put onus on the Centre.on the reservation issue.

He demanded that the Andhra Pradesh government implement the reservation for Kapus immediately, or else the government it will face the wrath of the Kapus, he warned
