Seven soldiers go missing as avalanche hits them in Arunachal Pradesh

Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh): Seven soldiers went missing due to a sudden avalanche in the Kameng sector in Arunachal Pradesh. The incident took place when the troops were performing security duties on the borders. The change in the environment always poses a threat to them.

On receiving information, a team of experts rushed to the scene to locate the missing jawans. Military officials said it had been snowing heavily here recently. It was revealed that relief operations are currently underway in the Kameng sector.

Patrolling in high-altitude areas in the winter months can be tricky as the soldiers have died in such incidents in the past. In May 2020, two soldiers, who were part of a patrol-cum-snow-clearing duty, died after they were caught in an avalanche in Sikkim.
