TDP fully supports KVP Bill for Special Category Status

The ruling Telugu Desam Party in Andhra Pradesh has decided to offer full support to the Private Member's Bill introduced in Parliament by Rajya Sabha MP KVP Ramachandra Rao (Congress). Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has already made an announcement in this regard. TDP leader Bonda Umamaheshwar Rao on Wednesday confirmed the party line about the Special Category Status. He said the TDP would give comprehensive support for the Bill. There was nothing more important for the TDP than to develop the State. However, Bonda made the interesting observation that nothing much could be expected from the KVP bill seeking SCS among other things. He said the greatest sin of division of Andhra Pradesh always lay with the Congress. The KVP Bill is expected to come up before the Rajya Sabha on Friday. Had the Congress been sincere, it would have tried for atonement for dividing the State unnaturally and fought effectively for the SCS to AP immediately after the 2014 elections without political chicanery, which was evident in the differences between the AP Reorganisation Bill and the AP Reorganisation Act.
