Key Positions Assigned to Retired IAS and IPS Officers in Telangana

The Revanth Reddy-led government in Telangana has appointed several retired IAS and IPS officers to significant positions within the administration. On Wednesday, the state government issued orders appointing retired IAS officer K.S. Srinivasaraju as the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister's Office. He will serve in this role for a tenure of two years. Srinivasaraju, originally from the Andhra Pradesh cadre, previously held long-term responsibilities as the Joint Executive Officer (JEO) of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).

Former Chief Secretary to the Government of Telangana, Shanti Kumari, who recently retired from service, has also been entrusted with key responsibilities. The government appointed her as the Vice Chairperson of the Dr. MCR Human Resource Development Institute (MCRHRDI) and additionally entrusted her with the role of Director General of the same institute. It may be recalled that K. Ramakrishna Rao has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary following her retirement.

On Wednesday, the government also reappointed senior IPS officer V.B. Kamalasan Reddy, who retired the same day, as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the State Intelligence and Security Department. He will continue in this capacity for a period of two years. Furthermore, the government has assigned him full additional responsibilities as Director of the Integrated Police Command and Control Center.

Previously, V.B. Kamalasan Reddy had served as the Director General of the State Drug Control Department and as the Commissioner of the Excise Department. The government has appointed IPS officer Shahnawaz Qasim, who previously served as Secretary to the Chief Minister’s Office, to succeed him in that post.

Additionally, senior IAS officer Shashank Goel, who was recently appointed as Director General of the Centre for Good Governance (CGG), has now been posted as Special Chief Secretary at Telangana Bhavan in New Delhi. This appointment was also formalized through a government order issued on Wednesday.
