AP Government Clarifies Rules on Contract Employee Extensions

The Andhra Pradesh government has made a decision to provide relief to contract employees working across various government departments. The government has issued key orders extending the service period of contract employees by another year.
The tenures of many contract employees serving in state government departments and district offices were set to end on March 31 of this year. In this context, the government has decided to continue their services until March 30, 2026. Andhra Pradesh Finance Department Principal Secretary Piyush Kumar officially issued the orders to this effect.
However, the government has included an important condition for this extension. The orders clearly state that only those contract employees who were appointed with prior approval from the Finance Department will be eligible for the extension. Those who do not fall under this condition will not be eligible for the benefit.
Furthermore, the government clarified that, in the future, any new contract appointments must necessarily receive prior approval from the Finance Department. It was specified that no new contract appointments should be undertaken without the approval of the Finance Department.
