Expert committee asks TS Govt to build 6 barrages, 3 reservoirs on Godavari

Hyderabad, March 26, 2015: In what could lead to a fresh dispute with neighboring AP, an expert committee has recommended to the Telangana Government to build 6 barrages and 3 reservoirs on River Godavari at different points in the state, media reports said. The expert committee, headed by Syam Prasad Reddy, has also asked the Government to build two or three barrages on River Krishna too to make use of its share of Krishna water to the maximum extent possible. The expert committe has submitted a detailed report to the government with its recommendations. However, there is no clue as yet on the locations where the suggested barrages and reservoirs would come on Godavari and Krishna rivers.
