IIT, IISER at Tirupati to start functioning from this academic year
Tirupati, March 25, 2015: AP Education Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao has said that Indian Institute of Technology (IIT ) and Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER ), being established at Tirupati, will start functioning from this academic year itself. Speaking to reporters after inspecting the site here for constructing buildings for the two prestigious institutions, the Minister said that ground breaking ceremony will be held on March 28 and Union Ministers Smruti Irani, Venkaiah Naidu, Sujana Choudary will participate in the function along with CM Chandrababu Naidu. He said the intake of students for the first year for IIT would be 120 for four engineering branches and 150 for IISER. Till the construction of buildings is complete, classes would be conducted in other college premises in the town by a special arrangement, he said.
