SLBC Tunnel Collapse: Sniffer Dogs Detect Traces of Missing Workers

In the ongoing rescue operations following the collapse of the SLBC (Srisailam Left Bank Canal) tunnel, sniffer dogs brought in from Kerala have reportedly detected traces of the missing workers. Authorities are carefully removing accumulated debris from the collapsed tunnel, and some progress has been made in identifying the trapped individuals. Reports indicate that the dogs detected traces of the missing workers near the D-2 point, approximately 100 meters from the accident site. Some of the missing individuals may be identified by this evening.

The SLBC tunnel construction had resumed recently after a five-year hiatus. On February 22, while work was in progress in the morning, the tunnel suddenly collapsed. Of the 42 workers present near the tunnel boring machine on one side, all managed to escape, while eight workers on the other side were trapped. Rescue operations have been ongoing since the incident, but as time passes, authorities fear that the trapped workers may not have survived.
