Telangana Government Announces 2.5% DA Hike for RTC Employees

Telangana's Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has announced a 2.5% Dearness Allowance (DA) hike for employees of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC). The revised DA will take effect from tomorrow, coinciding with International Women’s Day. This decision is expected to impose an additional financial burden of ₹3.6 crore per month on TSRTC.

Speaking about the government's commitment to women's empowerment, Ponnam Prabhakar stated that the government is taking significant steps in this direction. As part of this initiative, the state will launch the "Indira Mahila Shakti" bus service tomorrow. The project aims to uplift one crore women financially.

The Indira Mahila Shakti buses will be operated through Mandal Mahila Samakhya (Mandal Women’s Federation) associations. In the first phase, 150 buses will be leased through these women’s groups, with the government planning to expand the fleet to 600 buses in total. In the second phase, agreements will be made for an additional 450 buses.

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is set to inaugurate the Indira Mahila Shakti buses tomorrow.
