Amaravati Capital to Be Completed in Three Years: Minister Narayana

Andhra Pradesh Minister Narayana has announced that the Amaravati capital project will be completed within three years. Speaking to the media today, he clarified that not a single rupee from public tax revenue would be used for the capital’s construction. Instead, funds from HUDCO (Housing and Urban Development Corporation) and the World Bank loans would be utilized for the development.

Narayana criticized former Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, alleging that during his tenure, the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) played a “three-capital drama” instead of focusing on Amaravati's development. He urged the YSRCP to now adopt a clear and consistent policy on the capital issue.

The minister further claimed that the state budget introduced by the current government had put YSRCP leaders under pressure. He alleged that this was the reason behind what he described as irrational statements from Jagan Mohan Reddy and his party members regarding Amaravati.

Narayana reiterated that only funds generated through the sale of land in Amaravati would be used for the capital’s construction. He emphasized that once roads, drainage systems, and parks are developed in Amaravati, land values in the region would increase. He also clarified that while ₹6,000 crore had been allocated for the capital in the budget, this amount would not come from tax revenue paid by the public.
