"No One Comes Forward to Help in Tough Times": Shreyas Iyer
Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer, who played a crucial role in India’s victory against New Zealand in their final league match of the Champions Trophy, has made a thought-provoking statement about resilience and self-reliance.
Over the past year, Iyer has faced significant challenges, including being dropped from the Test squad and not securing a place in the BCCI central contract. Despite these setbacks, he remained determined and motivated himself to overcome difficult times.
Iyer made a strong comeback to the ODI team during the series against England, scoring consistently with innings of 59, 44, 78, 15, and 56 runs. He further proved his form by scoring 79 runs against New Zealand in the Champions Trophy. Notably, he was one of the highest run-scorers for India in the 2023 ODI World Cup.
Reflecting on his journey, Iyer stated that he has realized that no one truly comes forward to help during tough times, and it is crucial to believe in oneself instead of relying on others. He emphasized that challenging periods teach individuals to navigate life independently. However, he acknowledged that only a few people genuinely stand by during hardships, and such individuals should be valued.
"I have always stood by myself in every situation. I showed self-confidence and always had my own back," Iyer remarked. He added that this belief has been instrumental in his progress over the past one and a half years.
Iyer also revealed a technique he has adopted to stay focused—avoiding dwelling on the past and living in the present.
