Former Pithapuram MLA to Join Jana Sena; Pawan Kalyan Gives Approval

Former Pithapuram MLA Pendem Dorababu, along with his family members, met Jana Sena Party chief and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan on Monday at the party headquarters in Mangalagiri. During the meeting, Dorababu expressed his willingness to join Jana Sena, to which Pawan Kalyan gave his approval. Reports suggest that Dorababu will officially join the party during the Jana Sena formation day event in Pithapuram on March 14.

Dorababu began his political career with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 1999 but faced defeat in that election. However, he secured victory in the 2004 elections. In 2009, he shifted from the BJP to the Congress party and later joined the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) following the demise of Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy. As a YSRCP candidate, he contested the 2014 elections but was unsuccessful. He later won the 2019 elections.

For the 2024 elections, YSRCP denied Dorababu a ticket and instead fielded Vanga Geetha as its candidate. However, she was defeated by Pawan Kalyan.
