Pawan Kalyan Mocks YSRCP: "You Didn’t Even Get as Many Seats as Jana Sena"

During the Andhra Pradesh budget session, members of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) raised slogans demanding recognition as the official opposition. They attempted to obstruct the Governor’s address for nearly 11 minutes before staging a walkout from the assembly. In response to YSRCP’s demand, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan made critical remarks, asserting that opposition status is not granted by the Chief Minister or the Speaker but is determined by the people.

Pawan Kalyan pointed out that the YSRCP secured only 11 seats in the recent elections, whereas Jana Sena Party (JSP) emerged as the second-largest party in the state. He ridiculed YSRCP, stating that it failed to secure as many seats as JSP. He categorically declared that YSRCP would not be granted opposition status. However, he added that if YSRCP had won even one more seat than Jana Sena, the government would have considered giving it the status.

Criticizing YSRCP’s approach, Pawan Kalyan remarked that disrupting the assembly proceedings would not secure them the opposition status. He condemned their protests, calling them an example of YSRCP’s political decline. "Fix yourselves... you won’t get opposition status in these five years," he asserted. He also emphasized that there are specific rules governing the recognition of opposition status.

Pawan Kalyan further criticized YSRCP members for attempting to disrupt the Governor’s address despite the Governor attending the session while suffering from fever. He described their actions as disgraceful and urged them to adopt more dignified conduct. He advised YSRCP leaders to respect the 11 seats given to them by the people and participate in the assembly proceedings. He also reassured them that the Speaker would allocate speaking time in proportion to their legislative strength.
