Shops Allowed to Operate 24/7 from March 2 to 31 for Ramadan: Telangana Labour Department
The Telangana Labour Department has issued key orders allowing shops and commercial establishments in the state to remain open 24 hours a day from March 2 to March 31 in view of the Ramadan month. Sanjay Kumar, Principal Secretary of the Labour Department, issued the directive, granting businesses permission to operate round the clock during this period.
The order mandates that employers must pay wages to employees in accordance with the stipulated labor regulations. As per the law, employees working beyond eight hours a day or 48 hours a week must be compensated with double wages. Additionally, if employees are required to work on holidays, they must be given an alternative leave day.
The directive also emphasizes compliance with Government Order (G.O.) 476 concerning the employment of women workers during night shifts. It specifies that establishments must adhere strictly to the prescribed guidelines when engaging female employees during late-night hours.
