Vallabhaneni Vamsi Submits Affidavit Opposing Custody Petition in Court

Former Gannavaram MLA and YSR Congress Party leader Vallabhaneni Vamsi has filed a personal affidavit in the Vijayawada SC/ST Atrocities Court opposing the police’s petition seeking his custody for ten days. Questioning the necessity of his custody, Vamsi stated, “I was tracked and arrested the very next day after an FIR was registered under the SC/ST Atrocities Act. I was taken into custody only after an investigation. Why is custody required again?”

Vamsi further challenged the police’s request by questioning whether he was arrested without a prior investigation. He pointed out that the complainant, Satyavardhan, is available outside and can be questioned to obtain necessary details. Stating that he has nothing new to disclose, Vamsi argued that placing him in custody would be a waste of time. Citing Article 20(3) of the Constitution, he asserted that he is not obligated to hand over any personal belongings to the police.

In support of his claims, Vamsi attached a copy of the FIR (Crime No. 84/2025), which names Satyavardhan as Accused No. 5. Meanwhile, Vamsi, who is currently lodged as a remand prisoner in Vijayawada Jail, had earlier filed a petition requesting permission to receive home-cooked food and be allotted a bed.

Regarding Vamsi’s bail petition, the prosecution sought two days to file a counter, a request that the court accepted.
