"My Comments on Telugu Heroines Were Misinterpreted": Producer SKN

Film producer SKN has responded to the controversy surrounding his recent remarks at a film event, stating that his comments about Telugu heroines were misinterpreted. Reports had surfaced suggesting that SKN claimed his team would no longer encourage Telugu actresses due to certain issues that arise after offering them opportunities. Following widespread criticism, the producer released a clarification.

SKN alleged that some websites and YouTube channels had distorted his statements, portraying them as if he had said he would not work with Telugu actresses anymore. Clarifying his stance, he stated, "I am one of the very few producers who have introduced Telugu actresses as heroines. We have launched Reshma, Anandhi, Manasa, Priyanka Jawalkar, Vaishnavi Chaitanya, Aishwarya, and Khushita. Next, we are introducing Harika and another new Telugu actress. We have also introduced Eesha Rebba, Priya Vadlamani, and Inaya."

The producer emphasized his commitment to supporting Telugu talent, noting his own background as a Telugu journalist. "Since I started my career as a Telugu journalist, I always wanted to promote Telugu artists. To my knowledge, I have supported around 25 women in various capacities—as heroines, writers, art directors, executive producers, and directors. Providing a first opportunity is crucial," he said.

He further pointed out that his upcoming three films also involve Telugu women in key roles. "The art director, executive producer, and writer in these projects are all Telugu women. We are actively encouraging local talent. However, some have taken a lighthearted remark and misrepresented it as if I declared I would no longer work with Telugu actresses," SKN stated.

Dismissing the controversy, he clarified that his comment was made in jest and reaffirmed his dedication to promoting Telugu talent. "I have always treated this as a mission. Even in my future projects, Telugu actresses will continue to receive priority. I request that no further misleading reports be spread regarding this matter," SKN said in a video statement.
