FIR against Renuka Chowdary for taking bribe from aspiring election candidate

Khammam, March 21: Burhanpuram police station in Khammam registered an FIR against Rajya Sabha MP Renuka Chowdary under IPC and SC and ST Atrocities Act. One Bhukya Kalavathi, wife of Bhukya Ramji Naik, a doctor, is said to have lodged a complaint against Renuka Chowdary and seven followers alleging that the MP had taken a bribe of Rs 1 crore from her. Based on the complaint police had registered an FIR under the sections of IPC 420 and 506 and 3 (1) (X) of SC and ST Atrocities Prevention Act. Bhukya Kalavathi is reported to have tried to contest on a Congress ticket from the Wyra Assembly constituency in the 2014 elections. In her complaint, Bhukya Kalavathi said that her husband had allegedly given Rs 1.10 crore to the MP on two occasions on December 1, 2013 and March 30, 2014. She also alleged that three of the MP's followers, identified as Rangareddy, Dayakar Reddy and Subba Reddy, had taken Rs 5 lakh each from her husband to meet expenses. However, Bhukya Kalavathi said her husband was not given a party ticket. With the result, her husband Ramji Naik became disturbed and consequently lost his practice and died on October 14, 2014.
