Andhra Pradesh MLC Elections: ECI Permits Amaravati Development Works

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has clarified that there are no objections to continuing development works in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh. In response to a letter from the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA), the ECI has granted permission to call for tenders related to the city's projects.

This development comes amid the ongoing Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in Andhra Pradesh due to the upcoming Member of Legislative Council (MLC) elections. The state is set to hold MLC elections on February 27, covering the Krishna-Guntur, East Godavari-West Godavari graduate constituencies, and the Vizianagaram-Srikakulam-Visakhapatnam teachers’ constituency. The election schedule was recently released.

By issuing this letter, the ECI has confirmed that the enforcement of the MCC does not restrict routine development activities, including those planned for Amaravati.
