Woman Professor Marries Student in Classroom; University Orders Inquiry
A video showing a senior woman professor marrying a student inside a classroom has gone viral on social media, causing a stir. The incident took place at the Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology in Nadia district, West Bengal.
In the video, the woman professor, dressed as a bride, and the first-year student are seen performing Hindu Bengali wedding rituals, including Sindoor Daan (applying vermilion) and Mala Badal (exchanging flower garlands). As the video gained traction online, the university administration ordered an inquiry on Wednesday.
When questioned by university officials, the professor explained that the event was part of a psychodrama demonstration in her class. However, authorities have directed her to go on leave until the investigation is concluded. The student involved has also been given similar instructions.
