Ganguly Criticizes India’s Batting After Border-Gavaskar Series Loss

Former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly has strongly reacted to India's disappointing performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He attributed the series defeat to the team's poor batting display, emphasizing that consistent failure with the bat was the primary reason behind the loss. Ganguly specifically criticized captain Rohit Sharma and former captain Virat Kohli for not living up to expectations.

"It’s impossible to win Test matches if you don’t score enough runs," Ganguly remarked. He stressed that aiming to win with low totals like 170 or 180 runs was unrealistic and added, "The team should have ideally scored 350 to 400 runs." However, he refrained from blaming any individual for the loss, pointing out that cricket is a team game.

Ganguly expressed confidence in Kohli, calling him a great player who would overcome his current struggles and regain form. He also stated that Rohit Sharma knows what needs to be done as a captain. Commenting on Rohit’s absence from the Sydney Test, Ganguly clarified that it was a personal decision by the skipper.
